At the Dolphins we are priveleged to have some of the best and most qualified coaches in the Southeast. Though ARPA does not require any certification for it's coaches, all of our coaches are certified in Coach Saftey Training by the Red Cross. Below are our coaches for the 2011 Season.
Gayle Marbury is the head coach of the Madison Dolphins. She brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the team. She has been the head Coach of the Dolphins for 27 years, the same number of years the Dolphins have gone undefeated in a dual meet. Besides the Dolphins, Gayle also coaches on the USA Swim© affiliated team the Madison Swim Association (MSA), as well as teaching Masters Triathlete class at UAHuntsville. She also brings to the table 2 years as a Sherwood swim coach for Rocket City League; 3 years as an age-group coach for the Seahorses, a USSA team in Huntsville; 3 years as a high school and age-group swim coach in Heritage Hills, Indiana; and 1 years as an Assistant Women's swim coach at University of North Carolina in Greensboro. Besides her love for coaching, Gayle spends her free time training for, and participating in Triathlons.
This is Kyle's 6th year coaching for the Madison Dolphins. Kyle was born in 1990 and began swimming at age 6 and began competitive year-round swimming at age 7 for the Madison Dolphins during the Summer and with MSA during the Winter. He began coaching in 2005 on the Madison Dolphin Development team. Since then he has coached the 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 age groups for at least one Summer each. Besides coaching for the Dolphins, Kyle has also coached on the USA Swimming© affiliated team the Madison Swim Association (MSA) and is a USA Swimming© certified coach. He has also given private lessons since 2005. Kyle is now 21 and this Fall he will be a Senior at the University of Alabama in Huntsville studying Political Science with the hopes of attending Law School. In his spare time Kyle enjoys drawing, listening to music and swimming every morning. His favorite stroke is Backstroke and his favorite event is the 100 yard Individual Medley.
Whitney started swimming with the Madison Dolphins in 1996. After graduating highschool she was asked to return to the Dolphins as a coach in 2007. She graduated in May 2010 from the University of Alabama with a degree in Elementary Education. Her favorite stroke is butterfly, and her favorite event is the 1650 freestyle.
Katie swam on Madison Dolphins since age 12 but has been swimming since age 4. Her sophomore year she received the "All American Swimmer" title from Bob Jones high school. She was co-captain of Bob Jones Swim Team her junior and senior year of high school. She has taught both public and private swim lessons for 9 years now. She is 19 years old and attends the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She is in the honors college and is majoring in chemical engineering. In her free time Katie enjoy swimming, hiking, hanging with friends, and any outdoors activity. Her favorite events to swim in high school were 50 and 100 free and during the summer her favorite events were 100 IM and 50 back.
Danae Young has been a part of the Madison Dolphins since age 7 and began coaching at age 13. She has coached the development team, 8&under boys and girls, 9-10 boys and has also taught many private swim lessons. Her favorite stroke is backstroke and her favorite event is 50 backstroke. Danae is 19 years old and is a junior at Athens State University studying Elementary Education. In her free time Danae enjoys singing at church, shopping, spending time with friends and family.
Jenny has grown up in a swimming family and was a member of the Madison Dolphins from ages 8-18. She coached the 8 and under age group in 2008 and has also taught private swim lessons. Jenny swims for the University of Auburn. She likes fly, back, and free, and sprinting is her specialty. She will be a senior next year, majoring in Secondary Math Education. In her spare time Jenny likes to play with her dogs and go out on the boat.
